Rice ‘would’ve snubbed Arsenal’ for Man Utd – Rio

Rio Ferdinand believes Declan Rice would snub Arsenal and join Manchester United if they offered West Ham the same price.

The England midfielder has been in fine form since moving to the Emirates Stadium, most recently helping his team beat Real Madrid to reach the Champions League semi-finals in impressive style, scoring two superb free-kicks in a 3-0 first-leg win.

“The first game ended everything, but I thought they (Arsenal) were excellent in both games,” Rio told his podcast about Arsenal’s performance in the Champions League against Real Madrid. “Against that level of team, that type of team, that type of champion team.”

“And we (Manchester United) didn’t go for it and sign him. I think, and I stand by this, if Manchester United had come in with their cheque book and said ‘we’ll pay what Arsenal paid’. I think Declan Rice would have chosen Manchester United.”

Back in 2021, it was reported that Rice had asked United’s England players about the club while on international duty. But United’s loss has been the Gunners’ gain as Rice has taken his game to new levels under Arteta.
